Zagar's absence will significantly weaken Swindon for their cup tie |
Swindon will be without Slovenian rider Matej Zagar in the home leg of their Knockout Cup semi-final with Lakeside Hammers on Thursday. Zagar is being forced to attend a re-arranged meeting in Poland, leaving the Robins with a much weaker team. Swindon boss Alun Rossiter told BBC Wiltshire it is news they could well have done without. "It's a massive blow because he's come in and done exceptionally well and we really needed him," he said. The Robins are making plans for Zagar to make a quick return to England and race at the Abbey Stadium if the Polish fixture is postponed. The return leg against Lakeside takes place on Friday, with the Robins under pressure to rack up a big win in the opening meeting. They will be without captain Leigh Adams and reserves Ryan Fisher and Cory Gathercole for the second leg. Edward Kennett has been drafted in as a guest replacement for Adams, and Zagar should be available again for that match.
