Alastair Seeley won the Superstock class at last year's North West 200 |
Alastair Seeley has agreed a deal to ride for the Relentless TAS Suzuki team in the Superstock class at next month's North West 200. Seeley will also ride an AIM Yamaha in the Supersport class after parting company with the JMF Millsport team at the beginning of last week. Michael Rutter will now ride for the JMF team in the Supersport and Superstock categories at the road race. Rutter will still ride for the Rob Mac Yamaha team in the Superbike events. Seeley won the Superstock category at last year's event. The Carrickfergus rider will also ride the Suzuki at the next round of the British Superstock championship at Oulton Park on 4 May. "I'm really pleased that Hector and Philip Neill have come in and pulled me out of a very big hole," said Seeley. "I'm really delighted to be riding for Relentless Suzuki at Oulton Park and my goal will be to score solid points and use it as set-up for the North West 200, where I'll join my new team-mates Bruce Anstey and Cameron Donald. "I think the new Suzuki GSX-R1000 will definitely be the bike for the job and I can't wait to get started." "I must be honest and say that we were not actively looking for another rider, never mind running a third rider at the North West 200," said team manager Philip Neill. "Alastair contacted the team directly to see if we could do anything for him, and although we have offered him some short-term support, it wasn't an easy decision so late in the day. "I suppose we are lucky enough to be in a position where we can help the lad. "Alastair is a top class rider and someone I've admired for quite some time. "It's nice to be able to do someone a good turn, especially a local rider and I'm sure he'll do well on the 2009 GSX-R1000."
