 Alastair Seeley dominated last year's Mondello Masters series |
Reigning Mondello Masters champion Alastair Seeley took victory in the first race of this year's series. Seeley came home ahead 1.7 seconds ahead of runner-up Jack Kennedy, with David Haire third, BJ Toal fourth and Gerard Kinghan fifth in Sunday's race. Seeley also won two of the weekend's Irish Superbike rounds with Kinghan taking victory in the third. Kennedy took two Supersport wins and Seeley one while Mark Lunney won three 250cc races and three 125cc events. Seeley won the first Superbike race of the meeting on Saturday, beating Toal, Brian McCormick, Haire and Kinghan. Also on Saturday, Carrickfergus man Seeley came home ahead of Kennedy, Marty Nutt, Michael Dunlop, Marshall Neill and Declan Swanton in the Supersport 600 catgeory. Lunney won the 250 and 125 classes while Gary Mathews was triumphant in the Supertwins. In Sunday's first Superbike joust, Seeley saw off Kinghan, McCormick, Toal and Haire. In race two, Kinghan was the victor with Toal and McCormick completing the podium and Haire fourth. The first Supersport race of the day saw Kennedy edge out Seeley, with Keith Amor third, Lunney fourth and Dunlop fifth. Kennedy triumphed again in Sunday's second race, with Nutt, Amor, Dunlop and Lunney close behind. Lunney saw off David Craig in the two 250cc races and also won the two 125cc events. Keith Meere and Malcolm McKinney won the Supertwins events. Meanwhile Ryan Farquhar took his first race win of the season in the National event at the short circuit meeting at Bishopscourt on Saturday. The Dungannon rider beat Michael Pearson and Andrew Brady in the first race while Pearson won the second from Brady and Mark Cassells.
