The Isle of Man TT Marshals Association is appealing for volunteers and existing members to sign-on as soon as possible for this year's event. TT Marshals Association chairman Bill Carden is keen to reinforce the message that roads will close at the same times as the previous two years. Carden says it was clear from the start that they are stretched enough with the current times. "Right from day one our view was that it wouldn't work," said Carden. "There was some consultation, more of a suggestion on our part. "We know from previous years that we're stretched at six o'clock, people have to get home from work and it's unfair to ask them to give up another hour." It had been proposed that roads close an hour earlier on four nights of practice week, to allow non-TT riders enough time to qualify for the TTxGP race. However after a week of negative reaction to the idea, the Isle of Man TT co-ordinating committee, chaired by Tourism Minister Martyn Quayle, announced a U-turn on Friday. The Mountain Road will close at 1700 BST and the rest of the course will close at 1800 BST.
