Reeves (r) won his first world title with his brother Tristan |
Kent's triple world sidecar champion Tim Reeves says winning the 2009 Isle of Man TT is his main objective. Following a podium finish on his debut, the Maidstone rider said: "It's the biggest motorcycle event in the world and the biggest sidecar race. "The world titles were incredible but the recognition and publicity from winning the TT are second to none." Alongside Patrick Farrence, Reeves produced the fastest ever time for a newcomer at the 2008 event. Speaking at Monday's official TT 2009 launch he added: "The Isle of Man TT really shocked me, I just treated it as any other motorcycle race but when I got here I realised that it's the best motorcycle race in the world, full stop." Reeves third-place finish in 2008 made him the first newcomer to make the podium since Rolf Biland 30 years ago. | The world titles were incredible but the recognition and publicity from winning the TT are second to none |
Reeves, 36, started competing as a driver in 1999 and has enjoyed a rapid rise to the top of the three-wheeled discipline. After establishing himself on the British scene with numerous wins, he progressed on to the world stage, challenging the established guard of Steve Webster and company almost immediately. Tim clinched his first world title in 2005, just six years after he first sat behind the controls, and has gone on to take the crown three years in succession.
