John Barton will have an operation on Wednesday to set fractures sustained in a crash at the Ian Watson Spring Cup held at Oliver's Mount on Sunday.

Barton broke his shoulder and arm as well as sustaining bruised lungs in the crash at the approach to the Mere Hairpin bend.

"I want to thank all the medics at Oliver's Mount and Scarborough Hospital for their care," said Barton.

"I'm looking forward to catching up with everyone back on the island soon."

TT development manager Paul Phillips added: "He should be back on the island by the end of the week and we all wish him a speedy recovery."
