Plato still hopeful of competing

Jason Plato
Plato is one of the most successful touring car drivers in the UK

Touring car driver Jason Plato says he has not given up hope of competing in this year's British Championship despite having being without a team.

Plato, whose former team Seat withdrew from the competition, will compete in the first race at Brands Hatch on April 5th in a privately-entered Chevrolet.

"I love touring cars, it's part of my brand", Plato told BBC Oxford.

"I have a requirement to be on the grid for fans and sponsors. We have to try everything to make that happen."

He added: "We have been successful for this weekend and I am very hopeful that the conversations we are having with our commercial partners will allow us to be on the grid for the rest of the year."
