Oxford United winger Craig Nelthorpe hopes to use the rest of the season to convince boss Chris Wilder that he is worth keeping at the Kassam Stadium.
Nelthorpe, 21, signed until the end of the season when he joined the Blue Square Premier side in January.
And he told BBC Oxford: "I am hoping to be here next year.
"I am enjoying it down here. There is good banter between the lads. Hopefully if I keep playing well the gaffer will offer me a contract."
Nelthorpe joined Oxford following his release by Doncaster Rovers and has scored twice in 11 games for the U's.
