Priaulx hopes BMW will remain in the World Touring Car Championship |
Guernsey's former World Touring Car Champion Andy Priaulx has said he will consider racing in the USA if BMW decide not to stay in the competition. The 34-year-old is contracted to BMW for the next two seasons but the German manufacturers are considering whether to enter the WTCC next season. Priaulx told BBC Guernsey: "If I don't drive in Touring Cars then I hope to do something exciting in America." He is currently testing with the Bobby Rahal American Le Mans Series team. The dominance of Seat's turbo-powered diesel cars in this year's championship have seen BMW become uncompetitive. And Priaulx added: "It would be a big blow for World Touring Cars because BMW is a quality brand and has been extremely committed to this championship and probably helped to make it what it is. "It's a very exiting time for me right now and I'm pleased that once again I was the best BMW driver, my relationship with them is very positive and that's good."
