Sam Hornish Jr won his third Indy Racing League title on Sunday courtesy of winning two more races during the season than England's Dan Wheldon. Defending champion Wheldon won the last race of the season, the PEAK Antifreeze Indy 300 at Chicagoland Speedway, to claim his second race of the year.
He finished on 475 points, the same total as Hornish, but the American took the title because he won four races.
Hornish finished third on Sunday, 0.2323 seconds behind Wheldon.
