Bryant has competed at three Olympic Games |
Surrey judo fighter Karina Bryant is eyeing a gold medal in her final World Championships in France this month. The 32-year-old from Camberley has previously won five silver medals at the tournament. She told BBC Surrey: "I've always wanted a gold but unfortunately someone has always been standing in my way. "I'll go out there and give it my best shot. I'd like to see if I can sort that out, then the next step is an Olympic medal next year." Bryant, who competes in the +78kg category, is continuing her comeback after suffering a neck injury last year. "I've spent a lot of this year in rehabilitation but have managed to have a couple of successful run-outs in the last few months," she added. "The Worlds will be a good test for my neck and my condition after rehab. "I've not fought some of the top girls at this weight this year. I want to see where I am against them in a realistic situation." The World Championships run from 23-27 August in Paris.
