Britain's number one heavyweight judo player Chris Sherrington will compete in Guernsey next week. Sherrington is part of the combined Royal Navy and Royal Marine judo team, who will be in action against local teams at Beau Sejour on 23 May. The competition is being held in memory of Royal Marine Sergeant John "Manny" Manual, who died in Sangin, Afghanistan, in December, 2008. In 2009 the Forces' squad won the trophy in its inaugural year. The Channel Island Junior Judo Championships will be held alongside the event. Teams from both Jersey and Guernsey will compete in different weight categories for players between eight and 15 years old.
