Framewatch: Higgins v Stevens
John Higgins (Sco) 17-15 Matthew Stevens (Wal)Best of 33 frames

Frame-by-frame action from the semi-final of the World Snooker Championship as John Higgins moves into the final after a gripping encounter.

Frame 32: An epic final frame as Higgins books his place in the final.

After just over an hour Higgins takes the plaudits after a scrappy opening to the frame went on to produce some high quality safety play.

Higgins held his nerve though to finally confirm his superiority with a 70-44 winning margin.

Frame 31: Higgins moves to within one frame of the final as he regains the lead and piles the pressure on Stevens.

Higgins compiles a composed break of 73 and Stevens has no opportunity to influence proceedings.

Frame 30: A loose shot from Stevens presents Higgins with an easy red.

Higgins capitalises with a break of 69 but with just one more red required to leave his opponent needing snookers, Higgins misses an easy red with the rest.

Stevens looks set to make him pay and clear up but inexplicably misses a regulation yellow, ending his break at 44.

Higgins then seals the frame to tie the match once more.

Frame 29: Stevens produces a break of 71 on his first visit to the table but then pots the cue ball into the left middle pocket when potting the black.

Higgins claws himself back into the frame with a 38.

The frame is still within range for the Scotsman until Stevens flukes the yellow into the same middle pocket that had earlier proved his downfall.

And when Higgins fails to recover from a snooker he concedes to put Stevens back into the lead.

Frame 28: The final frame before the mid-session interval is a bizarre affair.

Stevens assumes control with a break of 59 before missing on a black.

Both players then become embroiled in a ten minute spell of play centred around two reds in the middle of the table.

With the possibility of a re-rack looming ever closer Stevens pots a red and proceeds to take the frame and level the scores once again.

Frame 27: A much quicker frame as Higgins takes command and moves into the lead.

He constructs a wonderful break of 75 before a missed red denys him the opportunity of another century break.

But the form of the Scotsman is increasing the pressure on Stevens.

Frame 26: A break of 46 puts Higgins in control, but Stevens replies with a 37.

It is to no avail though as Higgins takes the second frame of the final session to level the match at 13-13.

Frame 25: An outrageous fluke leads to a Higgins opening break of 38 before he misses a straight forward red into the black pocket.

Stevens misses the resulting opportunity with the balls well placed.

The world number two needs no further opportunity to take the opening frame - clearing to the blue with a break of 50 - reducing the deficit to just one frame.
