| Dazzler wants to light up screen Bobby George gives a positive response to the many e-mails he has been getting from BBC Sport Online users which suggest he should try his luck as an actor - the new Vinnie Jones. I wouldn't mind having a go at the acting lark. It would be a laugh I suppose. In life, you act every day and when I go on stage I'm acting then. I don't know what my "appeal" is as such. Maybe it's because I'm myself and people like for me being honest. If you can act yourself, that would be ideal - you're halfway there already. Gangster Obviously I couldn't play the part of a bank manager, but I could probably be a good gangster or an Eastender, because that's what I am. Mind you, I'm not a gangster! Being in a Guy Ritchie film would be fun I think. There have been a lot of rumours about me playing Frank Butcher's brother in EastEnders, but that's just a wind-up.
Ray Stubbs and the BBC got a lot of e-mails asking about that, but I don't know where it came from. Maybe it's because I sound a bit like Frank. He comes from my part of the country anyway. Elvis I've only ever done acting at school before now. I played Elvis a couple of times but I was only mucking about back then. I've never been offered a proper acting job, but I want to have a pop at it. My wife Marie is my agent at the moment, but if I wanted to go in for the acting game I'd probably need to find someone else who does that sort of thing for a living. I wouldn't know what I was doing otherwise. Maybe I could start off gently with an advert, just hoovering up or something. They all used to start off by going round and selling hoovers door to door years ago.
Darts is still my top priority though. I'm enjoying myself at the Embassy this week, even though I'm not playing in it. Magic reception I went up on the stage last night with the cloak and candles and I felt like I was going to go on and play, so it was disappointing. The reception I got was magic though. The audience all stood up. It's a lovely feeling when somebody does something like that. It made me feel great. I wasn't good enough this year, but next year I'll try and qualify and maybe I can do both jobs again, playing and working for the BBC. A lot of people think I've retired because I'm not in the Embassy, but I just didn't make it through the qualifying system this time. I don't go around the world getting ranking points to try and be one of the seeds because I'm a professional dart player. I get paid for working and I don't gamble on going off to the North American Open or somewhere because if I don't win, I don't get any money. If I work for different companies like breweries then I'm guaranteed to make my living. Still, maybe I can get back on the telly before the Embassy next year some other way. That would be lovely jubbly. |
