| Jimmy Hill Jimmy Hill OBE is a household name when it comes to football. He has been involved in football from every side: as a player, coach, manager, chairman, television executive and broadcaster. A versatile player with Brentford and Fulham in his early days, he went onto manage Coventry where he brought them from the bottom of the third division to the first division. He started his career in broadcasting at London Weekend Television as Head of Sport from 1967-72. He move on to Deputy Controller of Programmes 1972-73 before joining BBC Television as presenter for Match of The Day, making over 600 appearances on the show. He worked on the BBC Sports Personality of the Year during the 1970s and became a sporting personality himself, providing analysis and commentary on football throughout the 80s and 90s. As a presenter or analyst he has worked on each World Cup Finals since 1966 and every European Championship from 1968 to 1996. He left the BBC in 1999. |
