North Yorkshire golfer Simon Dyson wants his recent good to lead to playing at the top international level.

Dyson won the KLM Open this season and he said he wants to build on the success with a Ryder Cup place - his ultimate aim.

He said: "Now I've won a few times on tour, the next one is obviously a major which is very tough to win.

"Then there's the Ryder Cup up there as well so to knock one of those off would be great."

However he said he still wanted to enjoy playing on the European Tour as he tries to fulfil his ultimate ambition.

"I just enjoy doing what I do and enjoy playing week in week out at great destinations and occasionally knocking one off," he said.

Dyson said he also wants to break into the top 100 in the world rankings and regularly play in the majors and championship events.

"That's where I want to be," he said.

"That's where you test you're skill really in all the majors and all the world events because that's where the best players in the world are playing so you can compare yourself to everyone else.

"Top 64, top 50 - that's where I want to be."
