Andrew McDonald starred with bat and ball as Leicestershire inflicted a crushing eight-wicket FL t20 defeat on Yorkshire at Grace Road.

The Australian all-rounder took 3-18, backed by Harry Gurney (3-26), as Yorkshire were bowled out for 144, despite 67 from captain Andrew Gale.

Josh Cobb (46 off 25 balls) got the hosts' reply off to a flying start.

McDonald (59no) and James Taylor (33no) finished the job by seeing the Foxes to victory with 3.4 overs remaining.

Victory moved second-placed Leicestershire to within two points of Nottinghamshire at the top of the North Group and within sight of the quarter-finals for the first time in five years.

Yorkshire, who lost their last nine wickets for 71 in the final 12 overs after being 73-1 at one stage, remain second from bottom and with their chances of reaching the last eight looking increasingly slim.
