    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur manager Thomas Frank has been speaking to the media this afternoon to preview his side's return to Premier League action on Saturday.

Spurs secured their first win in six games midweek, beating Borussia Dortmund 2-0 in the Champions League and will look to back that up with a positive result away at Burnley.

Here are the top lines from Frank's news conference:

    • Frank reiterated his messages from last week about everyone within the club being on the "same page," adding that "there are a lot of things going in the right direction"
    • He said he has once again sat down for lunch this week with chief executive Vinai Venkatesham, something he does "three times a week"
    • The Dane shut down speculation linking Micky van de Ven with a move away from the club, claiming "he is a Tottenham player now and the future"
    • Frank said it feels like the club are "cursed" with the ongoing injury situation and added that forward Dominic Solanke is still not close to 100% fit
    • He also confirmed that Lucas Bergvall's injury that he sustained against Borussia Dortmund is looking like a "longer one"

Thomas Frank is an intelligent and hard-working manager and it's painful to see his stock put under such pressure from this so far inconsistent Spurs side he needs at least 1 decent transfer window, decent being the operative word, look at who united brought in after their bad sea

On Tuesday, we had players playing out of position, others playing despite injuries, and we were great. Super first half, managed the second half against a dangerous opponent. Just give a bit of credit.

A strange one this. Spurs fans most probably believe after the CL a trip to a relegation threatened team in Burnley may be just the game they need. As a Burnley fan I believe meeting a team lacking confidence/key personnel after CL midweek all pressure is on them.

Fans respond to performances on the pitch - but do we have the players? We lack quality going forward atm, and is Frank getting the best out of the players he has available? I'm not sure, but changing the manager yet again is that the right answer either?

  10. 'We need to build on it and add more consistency'published at 16:26 GMT 22 January

Burnley v Tottenham (Sat, 15:00 GMT)

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham boss Thomas Frank on how well he slept after the win over Borussia Dortmund: "In general I sleep well but of course it was a big win and much needed performance. We started very well in the first 25 minutes.

"We need to build on it and add more consistency. The last eight games have been more consistent in terms of performance."

  11. Solanke 'not close' to 100% fitpublished at 16:23 GMT 22 January

Burnley v Tottenham (Sat, 15:00 GMT)

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham boss Thomas Frank on how close Dominic Solanke is to full fitness: "I think he is not close to it, I would say. I think we saw a Solanke that was on, whatever, 70%. It's difficult [to know] when you are on 100%.

"I think we saw a lot of good things from him. He scored a goal, exactly where he should be, with a nice little triple contact. But the big positive is, he was where he should be in the box."

  12. 'Seems like we are cursed'published at 16:19 GMT 22 January

Burnley v Tottenham (Sat, 15:00 GMT)

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham boss Thomas Frank was asked if this is the most amount of injuries he has experienced within a team since becoming a manager: "It must be close to my third year in the Premier League with Brentford, I also had a horrendous year which impacted massively the Premier League season unfortunately so this is definitely close.

"The Bergvall one, how unlucky is that? With contact injuries, there was Joao? Kudus? Some of them is like what is happening here, seems like we are cursed or something like that but injuries are a part of football. Next thing we can look at is how can we speed up the return to play."

The February fixtures are daunting. Two wins v.s. Burnley and Frankfurt , and possibly a draw v.s. Newcastle at home, is best that can be reasonably expected of Spurs. Yes, it means three, possibly four, losses. And even beating Frankfurt away is a stretch. spurs fans should manage their expectations

Burnley v Tottenham (Sat, 15:00 GMT)

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham boss Thomas Frank on Micky van de Ven's future after recent speculation linking him with a move to Liverpool: "He seems happy. Very happy after the game we won.

"He's a fantastic player and a fantastic ambassador for this club. He's maybe had his best season for the club. He's growing as as leader and a big player for the future.

"I would say he is very important player for us. Micky is a Tottenham player for us now and the future."

Tuesday wasn't perfect, but can't we just enjoy the moment for a while? Constructive criticism is fine, but this relentless negativity is part of the problem - the players feel it, the manager feels it, and it affects their performance. Please let's at least 'support' during matches.

Burnley v Tottenham (Sat, 15:00 GMT)

    Tottenham Hotspur

More from Thomas Frank on his lunch with the board members: "Nick was here this week. That was planned five weeks ago. So that's normal if he's over that we have lunch.

"I have lunch with Vinai (Venkatesham, Chief Executive) three times a week because it's a good way to talk and get around all the small bits we need to do because we're also busy with meetings and a busy schedule. The same with Johan, the same with Fabio. So it makes sense to use that time to have lunch and talk."

  17. 'Everyone is on the same page'published at 16:04 GMT 22 January

Burnley v Tottenham (Sat, 15:00 GMT)

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham boss Thomas Frank on his relationship with the board: "The support [from the club] has been exceptional throughout the season.

"I know there's a few questions about me, but it's not about me. It's about me, the staff, the players, the club and that needs to be aligned and that direction and alignment is very clear from ownership to the board.

"Everyone is on the same page and there's a lot of things going in the right direction.

"We just need to back it up with even more good performance and more good result. I had lunch with Nick Beucher and Johan Lange [board members] again today.

"So I think it's again a good sign of just that support there is. And we need to keep going.”

  19. Spurs' struggles to createpublished at 15:58 GMT 22 January

Tottenham's struggles to create have been one of the biggest factors behind some fans' frustration towards Thomas Frank.

The club are renowned for enjoying an exciting, free-flowing brand of football but it has been far from it.

And this is highlighted by their terrible xG (expected goals) statistic this season.

Frank's men have generated more expected goals than their opponents in just eight of their 22 Premier League games this season.

Only Burnley and West Ham, who both sit in the bottom three, along with Fulham have won on xG fewer times.
