Defending Isle of Man men's champion Jon Corke has been knocked out of this year's competition by Davy Jones at the last 16. In a close-fought contest at Mount Murray, Island Games silver-medallist Jones progressed to the quarter-finals with a hard fought 1-up victory. Meanwhile, first-time qualifiers Gary Corlett and 15-year-old Tom Harris also qualified for the last eight. Corlett beat Peter Glover 3 & 2 while Harris defeated Kevin Moore 2 & 1. Paul Lowey is still in contention for his third island title after a comprehensive 5 & 4 victory over Brian Duggan. Darryl Callister, 20 strode into the last eight with a convincing 7 & 5 victory over Godfrey Kelly and Michael Curphey beat Robert Braide 2 & 1. Andrew Challenor beat club-mate Donald Beggs 1-up and Chris Kneen knocked out Marcus Avery by the same margin.
