Fifteen-year-old swimmer Grant Halsall won a bronze medal in the 200m backstroke at the European Youth Olympics in Tampere, Finland on Monday. Halsall qualified eighth quickest for the final with a time of two minutes 7.54 seconds giving the young swimmer a tricky outside lane in the final. However it did not affect him as he improved his time by 2.30 seconds to claim third place and a bronze medal. Halsall next swims on Friday in the 100m backstroke and 4x100m relay. The swimmer from Laxey won three individual gold medals at the recent Island Games in Aland.
