Wilson lines up a putt during his third round at Turnberry |
Mansfield golfer Oliver Wilson did not quite come up with the 'moving day' performance he was after at the 138th Open Championship. But, after a one-over 71 to stand three-over for the Championship, Wilson is still looking forward to putting in a good score on his first Open Sunday. "I was just a couple of mistakes away from a good round," he told BBC Sport. "But it will be nice to walk down 18 on a Sunday at the Open for the first time," he added. "I just hope I can shoot a score low enough to make it interesting." Beginning the day on two-over, after following his first day 72 with a 70, Wilson was back at level par for the Championship by the sixth after two birdies in consecutive holes. He dropped one at 8, before getting it straight back with a birdie at 9. But he them bogeyed 10, 12, 14 and 15, where he was not the only one to raise his eyebrows at the challenging pin position. "In that wind, that was as tough a position as you could have got," he added. "I don't think anyone could have got to within 20 feet of the hole."
