Paul Cutler is in contention for a Walker Cup place this year

Rathmore's Wayne Telford surprised favourite Paul Cutler in the final of the Magners North of Ireland Championship on Friday afternoon.

Telford made full use of his local knowledge to clinch a 4&2 victory over the Portstewart player.

Both men had earned wins over Moyola Park players in Friday morning's semi-finals at the Dunluce course.

Cutler defeated 17-year-old Chris Selfridge 5&4 while Telford held off Paul O'Kane on a 4&2 margin.
