Rory McIlroy celebrated his call-up to the Britain and Ireland team for the St Andrews Trophy match by winning the Mullingar Scratch Cup on Monday. McIlroy edged out last week's South of Ireland winner Simon Ward at the second tie-hole after both men had finished on 13 under par.
The Holywood teenager shot rounds of 69 and 71 on Monday while Baltray player Ward hit a 66 and 69.
Clandeboye's John Caldwell and Michael Campbell finished three shots behind.
Caldwell hit rounds of 69 and 68 on Monday while halfway leader Campbell dropped back after rounds of 71 and 74.
