Seventeen-year-olds Rory McIlroy and Oliver Fisher have been named in the Britain and Ireland team for the St Andrews Trophy match. The teenagers will be part of a nine-man team which will take on Continental Europe on 1-2 September, with two reserves also selected.
McIlroy is one of three newcomers along with English champion Ross McGowan and Lytham Trophy winner Jamie Moul.
The other six players all have Walker Cup experience.
They are Fisher, Nigel Edwards, Rhys Davies, Robert Dinwiddle, Lloyd Saltman and Richard Ramsay.
This season McIlroy has retained the Irish Close title, won the West of Ireland and lost a play-off for the Irish strokeplay.
Scott Jamieson and Adam Gee have been named as reserves with Colin Dalgleish the non-playing captain.
