Holywood's Rory McIlroy was suffering from food poisoning |
Holywood's Rory McIlroy has been forced to withdraw during the second round of the British Amateur Championship after suffering from food poisoning. The 17-year-old was in contention for a place in the matchplay stages but had to pull out after 13 holes at Prince's.
"I was suffering with terrible stomach cramps and was in tears with the pain," said McIlroy.
Warrenpoint's Jim Carvill slipped out of the reckoning after a 78 in his second round at St George's.
His seven-over-par round left him with a two-round total of 153.
