Wie's Open hopes ended by illness
Michelle Wie
Wie struggled in the hot and humid conditions in Illinois

R2 LEADERBOARD:
-10 J Ogilvie (US)
-9 D Chopra (Swe), K Cox (US), J Senden (Aus), J Huston (US)
-8 P Sheehan (US), H Slocum (US), R Moore (US)

Michelle Wie's chances of competing in next week's Open at Hoylake were ended when she was forced out of the John Deere Classic during the second round.

The 16-year-old, who would have qualified for the Open if she had finished in the top 10, complained of stomach pains and shortage of breath.

The American stopped on the ninth hole and was treated in the course medical trailer before being taken to hospital.

Justin Rose, meanwhile, fired a round of 66 to re-ignite his Open hopes.

That left the Englishman on five under for the tournament, five shots behind leader Joe Ogilvie.

A top-10 finish will see Rose qualify for next week's Open and his chances were boosted after vastly improving on his overnight position of 93rd.

American Ogilvie leads by a stroke from Australian John Senden, Sweden's Daniel Chopra and US compatriots John Huston and Kris Cox.
