Rory McIlroy fired a 72 on his British Amateur Championship debut |
Darren Crowe and Brian McElhinney have qualified comfortably for the matchplay stages of the British Amateur Championship after good second rounds. Both players carded rounds of 71 on Tuesday to lie on a total of 140, five shots behind the leading qualifier.
Richard Kilpatrick fired an impressive 71 to finish on 146, the same total as Michael McGeady of the North West club.
There was disappointment for Holywood teenager Rory McIlroy who recorded an 80 to miss out on the last 64.
His two-round total of 152 was not enough to make the matchplay stages at Royal Birkdale.
Sean McTernan of Sligo may make the two-round cut after scoring a second successive 72.
