Singh hits the right note
Vijay Singh celebrates his win over Retief Goosen
Vijay Singh won the World Match Play title in 1997

Vijay Singh turned in a fine display as the sun came out in the afternoon to comfortably beat Retief Goosen 4&3.

The 1997 champion, who started the second session all-square, produced a superb spell of five successive birdies which broke the back of Goosen.

Another three followed on the back nine and although Goosen hit a couple of birdies of his own, Singh was in charge by then.

The 33rd hole, which was halved, proved academic as Singh showed he will take some beating in this form.
