Harrington eases through

Padraig Harrington
Harrington was in blistering form for the final six holes

Padraig Harrington (Ire) beat Mike Weir (Can) 4 & 3

Padraig Harrington booked a dream second-round clash against Ryder Cup colleague Sergio Garcia after a 4&3 victory over Canadian Mike Weir.

Harington started the afternoon session all square after being two down at one stage.

But the fifth seed was impressive after lunch and went 3 up with a superb run of five birdies in six holes.

And victory was effectively sealed when following Weir's monster birdie putt on the 32nd, Harrington holed from 36 feet.

Harrington said: "I got a few breaks out there today and I holed a few putts when I needed to.

"But I'd love to be playing a bit better for tomorrow, I'm not striking the ball very well at the moment."

Harrington lost 2 & 1 to Ian Woosnam in last year's final and will be hoping to go one better this time.
