Match One:
Juli Inkster beat Raquel Carriedo 4&3

The experienced Inkster was just too good for Spanish star and European tour number one.

The match ended on the 15th hole, with Carriedo bogeying and Inkster making a confident two putt from a difficult downhill lie.

Match Two:
Laura Diaz beat Paula Marti 5&3

Rookie Marti made a terrible start to the match, with a run of fives.

The match ended on the 15th, with Marti making a charge for a birdie which missed on the right lip - the Spaniard conceded the match without asking her opponent to play any further.

Match three:
Emilee Klein beat Helen Alfredsson 2&1

The 16th hole proved pivotal in this match.

Alfredsson faced a straightforward four-foot putt to guarantee herself a halve - but her stroke horseshoed around the cup and she lost the hole to go two down with two to play.

Klein just needed to halve one of the final two holes to take the match - and she did that at the 17th.

Match Four:
Kelli Kuehne lost to Iben Tinning 3&2

Rookie Tinning produced a very impressive display to see off Kuehne.

She closed the match out on the 16th, finding the green in two, while her opponent three-putted.

Match Five:
Michele Redman halved with Suzann Pettersen

An absolutely enthralling match, with Pettersen five down with five to play before winning holes 14, 15, 16, 17 and then holing a fantastic 20-foot putt at the last to salvage an unlikely halve.

Veteran Redman seemed to visibly falter under the pressure and could barely bring herself to shake her opponent's hand at the conclusion of the match.

Match Six:
Wendy Ward halved with Annika Sorenstam

Davies watched Europe's chances fade
Another crucial match, which saw the world number one underperform against a much less experienced opponent.

It came down to the last hole, with Sorenstam playing a very heavy chip which gave her no chance of winning the match.

Both players missed birdie chances and the match was halved.

Match Seven:
Kelly Robbins beat Maria Hjorth 5&3

Robbins dominated this match from the start and her approach to the 15th landed within 10 feet to end proceedings.

Match Eight:
Cristie Kerr lost to Sophie Gustafson 3&2

Gustafson holed a superb birdie putt at the 16th to finish the match off and showed why she is still one of the most reliable players on the European team.

Match Nine:
Meg Mallon beat Laura Davies 3&2

Davies won just one hole and played dreadfully - her veteran opponent needed to do little but play the holes in regulation.

Pettersen earned half a point for Europe

Mallon's win came on the 16th, as a chip from off the green hit the pin and stopped stone dead.

Match 10:
Pat Hurst beat Mhairi McKay 3&2

Hurst sank an incredible putt on the 16th hole to end the match against her Scottish opponent, who plays most of her golf in America.

Match 11:
Beth Daniel halved with Carin Koch

The match finished all square, which meant Koch remained unbeaten in the Solheim Cup.

Koch had taken an early lead in the contest, two up after eight holes.

Daniel, though, fought her way back into the match, levelling on the final hole of the round.

Match 12:
Rosie Jones beat Karine Icher 3&2

The inexperienced Icher dominated the early part of the final singles tie, leading until the 12th hole.

But Jones turned the match around, going three up at the 18th before holding off a late comeback from Jones for a one-up victory.
