Lincoln Ladies manager Rod Wilson rued their failure to turn possession into goals in their 1-0 Women's Super League defeat by Doncaster Rovers Belles.

The Ladyimps dominated the second half but could not find a reply to Vicky Exley's goal just before the break.

Wilson told BBC Lincolnshire: "It's no good playing the ball round all the time without scoring the goals.

"We created chances but we have to create more, and when we do we've got to score them."

Exley grabbed the winner on the stroke of half-time, firing home Precious Hamilton's cross.

Carla Cantrell went close for the Ladyimps with a lob which went just over the bar, while Sue Smith rattled the post with a long-range effort.

Wilson added: "It was probably 50/50 in the first half, but in the second half we changed things round and we played all the football. We got hit by a suckerpunch just before half-time but the second half performance was a good one."

Lincoln goalkeeper Kay Hawke said: "I had two saves, one in each half and I've been a spectator, but football doesn't always go with the run of play.

"We had most of the possession and most of the chances but we haven't put ours away and at the end of the day it's goals that count, not possession."
