Forest women win to close gap on leaders Sunderland
By Tony Leighton
Kelly Finley scored twice as Nottingham Forest beat Leeds United 2-1 to go second in the Women's Premier League.
Forest moved ahead of Reading and Blackburn Rovers to sit only two points behind leaders Sunderland.
The Black Cats' game at bottom-of-the-table Barnet was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch.
Reading were surprise 3-1 losers at home to Watford, who earned their second win of the season to move three points clear of the relegation zone.
Blackburn were held to a 2-2 draw by Millwall Lionesses despite the Londoners having Naomi Cole sent off after just 15 minutes.
Nottingham Forest 2-1 Leeds United
Finley headed Forest in front after 15 minutes and drove in her second goal a minute into first half stoppage time.
Leeds hit back after the interval but were unable to force an equaliser after Emma Lipman had halved the deficit with an 18-yard shot eight minutes from time.
Reading 1-3 Watford
Holly Miles put Watford ahead on the half-hour and Sarah Wiltshire doubled the lead a minute before the break.
Wiltshire hit her eighth league goal of the campaign to wrap up victory 15 minutes into the second half.
The Hornets striker is now the league's top scorer, one ahead of Reading's Mikaela Howell, who scored her side's consolation goal with 20 minutes remaining.
Blackburn Rovers 2-2 Millwall Lionesses
There was early drama at Blackburn where was Cole dismissed for a handling offence in the penalty area and Nicky Twohig struck home the resulting spot-kick on 15 minutes.
Wendy Morgan levelled the scores five minutes later, but within 60 seconds the home side were back in front with Danielle Sheen this time finding the net.
The Lionesses battled on, however, and after Kate Longhurst had snatched their second equaliser in the 50th minute they went on to gain a well-deserved draw.
