Reading FC Women won their opening game of the season 2-1 against Barnet
Newly-promoted Reading FC are still adjusting to life in the Women's Premier League, manager Frank Rodriguez has told BBC Radio Berkshire.
"The key difference is the speed and the strength of the game - it always takes a few games to adjust to the new level of play," he said.
"We've played well and created chances but if we don't start burying those chances we'll continue to drop points."
Reading FC Women are in eighth place with only one win out of four games.
Rodriguez pointed out that the Women's Premier League is smaller this year, and with only eight teams it is more difficult to newly promoted sides to adjust.
"We started off the league being joint first place and having lost a couple of games we now find ourselves at the bottom of the table, so it is tougher," he said.
"We have to be really focussed now to squeeze some points out of every game and creep forward."
However Rodriguez remains confident his young side can obtain their objective and remain in the top flight.
"We've just got to keep chipping away and have belief, we are making good chances and playing good football. We just have to slot some of the chances in the back of the net and the flood gates will open. I'm still really optimistic for the rest of the season and we'll keep working hard.
"We have some fantastic support and investment from the club this season and we don't want to let the club or the supporters down. We want to keep progressing."
