Sunderland beat local rivals Newcastle 4-0 to clinch a place in the last 16 of the Women's Premier League Cup.
The north east derby was one of only four games played on what should have been the final day of the group stage.
The remaining nine games were postponed because of waterlogged pitches and have been rescheduled for next week.
The other three games played saw wins for regional division sides West Ham, Coventry City and Keynsham Town - the latter against top flight Reading.
The last 16 will comprise of the top two teams in each of the seven groups plus the two sides with the best third-place records.
Newcastle United 0-4 Sunderland
Kelly McDougall corners led goals for Kiera Ramshaw and Natalie Gutteridge as the Black Cats took control in the opening half-hour.
Ramshaw struck again five minutes after the break, this time heading home a Nicola Devine cross.
And five minutes later it was game over as Newcastle defender Jo Cartwright put the ball into her own net as she tried to head clear a Rachel Furness cross.
Reading 2-3 Keynsham Town
Holly Wardle scored twice as Southern Division Keynsham wrecked Reading's 100% group record.
Nicki Watts levelled Wardle's 12th-minute opener, but the home side could not come back a second time after second half Keynsham goals by Naomi Clipston and Wardle.
Mikaela Howell's goal 10 minutes from time proved too little, too late for Reading, though victories in each of their previous games mean they go through to the last 16.
Keynsham's win may not be enough - if Portsmouth beat Yeovil in their re-arranged tie it will be Pompey who take the group's second available place in the next round.
Cardiff City 2-3 Coventry City
A late winner by Nikki Myles ensured a last-16 berth for Northern Division Coventry, who took over as group leaders from their Southern Division hosts.
Helen Dermody gave the visitors an eighth minute lead, but Lisa Burge equalised seven minutes before the interval.
Cardiff then went ahead through Terri Beddows in the 67th minute, but 13 minutes later Jade Formaston levelled the scores.
And four minutes from time Myles hit the net to take Coventry through and leave Cardiff sweating on the result of the postponed tie between Watford and Aston Villa.
Colchester United 1-3 West Ham United
In an all-Southern Division clash West Ham's win saw them leap-frog Colchester into their group's second place and end the U's Cup hopes.
Goals by Becky Merritt and Carly Roache in the early stages of the second half put the Hammers on the road to victory.
Maegen Doyle reduced the arrears in the 75th minute, but 10 minutes from time a Joanne Wosahlo penalty sealed the result.
West Ham will end the group stage in second place unless bottom team QPR pull off a surprise win - by at least four goals - against leaders Barnet.
