Sunderland Ladies tasted defeat for the first time since December 2008 following Sunday's 1-0 loss by Manchester City.
Eleanor Turner's 50th minute strike was enough to seal the win for the Blues and dent the Wearsiders' bid for promotion to the Premier League.
"We probably didn't play as well as we have of late," said boss Mick Mulhern.
"But to be honest we created more than City and had more than enough chances to win the game."
The Ladies are second in the Womens' Premier League North, nine points behind Lincoln but with five games in hand.
