The longest unbeaten run in the history of the Women's Premier League was ended as Everton won 3-0 at Arsenal.
The Gunners, champions for the last five seasons, had not lost in the league in a 108-game sequence that stretched back to October 2003.
Everton are six points behind leaders Arsenal with three games in hand.
Fulham were relegated after a 1-0 defeat by Birmingham, who leapfrog Doncaster Belles into fourth after they lost 4-1 at Chelsea.
Arsenal 0-3 Everton
Everton lost to Arsenal in last week's FA Cup semi-final but will see this win as ample revenge if they go on to take the league title for the first time since 1998.
Captain Fara Williams put them on the road to their historic victory, opening the scoring after just 10 minutes.
Youngster Michelle Hinnigan doubled the lead three minutes later, and Williams' England colleague Jill Scott hit the decisive third goal eight minutes into the second half.
Chelsea 4-1 Doncaster Rovers Belles
Sarah Kempson and Lianne Sanderson scored two goals apiece as Chelsea bounced back from the disappointment of last week's FA Cup semi-final defeat by Sunderland.
Blues led 3-0 at one stage and, though Vanessa Leat pulled a goal back for the visitors, a Sanderson penalty 10 minutes from time put the result beyond doubt.
Fulham 0-1 Birmingham City
Fulham refused to give up their Premier League life without a fight and it took Birmingham until the 89th minute to win the match through Heather Scheuber's goal.
Leeds Carnegie 1-0 Watford
Improving Leeds made it four wins from five league matches thanks to a 58th-minute headed goal by England Under-20 striker Ellen White.
Blackburn Rovers 0-3 Nottingham Forest
Former Blackburn players Andi Bell and Levi Penny were the scorers, Penny with a double strike, to keep alive Forest's survival hopes.
Victory put the second from bottom club just one point behind Liverpool and with three games in hand.
Liverpool 2-3 Bristol Academy
Liverpool's chances of avoiding the drop were dealt a blow as Bristol collected their first away victory of the season.
The visitors looked set for a big win after following up their own-goal opener with two goals from Gwennan Harries.
