York City making progress on leaving Bootham Crescent
Hicks hopes there will be good news for York City in 2010
York City officials hope they can announce some positive news about a new ground in spring.
The Blue Square Premier club want to move to a purpose-built facility that could also be home to rugby league side York City Knights.
The Minstermen are in talks with the City of York Council to identify possible sites for the new ground.
Communications director Sophie Hicks told BBC Radio York: "Progress is being made and it is positive."
She added: "We've got a meeting with the project manager at the Council for the stadium project in the New Year and they're going to be discussing the sites that are available and those sites will then be announced in the Spring, I believe.
We need to be a club that's sustainable, not a club that's losing money every year

"So we're sort of discussing it initially in January, and then announcements made in the spring and then hopefully the site will be identified by the Summer.
"Things are progressing but it is slow and it is very frustrating for us and for our supporters.
"We need to be in a facility that can generate income for us everyday of the week. We need to be a club that's sustainable, not a club that's losing money every year."
Hicks said there could also be an announcement in 2010 about a new deal for the naming rights for Bootham Crescent. The current deal which sees the ground called Kitkat Crescent expires on 30 January.
"Hopefully we've got some positive news on that front," she said.
"Because of the feeling around the club at the moment - and there's a lot of positive feeling - we've had some more interest in the ground.
"Hopefully the deal will come right and we can make an announcement mid-January, I would hope."
