York City defender Ben Purkiss has signed a new one-year contract.
The 25-year-old who signed from Gainsborough in 2007 was offered a new deal after his previous contract expired at the end of last season.
York City manager Martin Foyle told BBC Radio York: "He's an important player and I thought in the last two months of the season he was outstanding.
"We want to play a lot more football from the back and with Ben bombing forward I think it suits our play."
