York set for shake-up - Robinson

York City defender Mark Robinson expects the squad to be kept on their toes in the January transfer window.

Manager Martin Foyle has made it clear he wants to bring more players in to increase competition for places.

Robinson told BBC Radio York: "If you haven't played much it's going to be in the back of your mind but you've just got to keep working hard.

"But hopefully we can keep the nucleus of the squad and we can add some new signings as well."

Foyle has made his first signing of the transfer window by bringing in defender Kyle Critchell from Wrexham on a month-long loan.

Robinson added: "Some of the lads have done really well and you need back up in all positions.

"So the new manager's come in and he's going to have his own players in mind which happens at every club.

They're a great set of lads here, the gaffer's said that. But at the end of the day a great set of lads don't win anything

"There will be players that move on but it doesn't mean they're bad players. It's just differences of opinions and another club might think they're good enough for them."

York are 16th in Blue Square Premier and they have only won once since October.

But Robinson said the players are committed to turning the season around.

"They're a great set of lads here, the gaffer's said that. But at the end of the day a great set of lads don't win anything.

"Everyone turns up at training and it's been really high-tempo training in the past couple of week's since the gaffer's come in and I think you should train how you play.

"I think that's been good and it's kept all the lads on their toes. The gaffer's said if you play well you'll stay in the team, where it maybe hasn't been like that before.

"So that keeps everyone on their toes but the morale is good. We've got to stick together and if we do I'm sure we can get through this sticky patch."
