York City have appointed former Port Vale midfielder and youth coach Andy Porter as their new assistant manager.
Porter, 40, replaces Neil Redfearn who has been appointed as under-18s manager at Leeds United.
York's communications director Sophie Hicks told BBC Radio York: "We wish Neil well for the future.
"Andy has achieved remarkable things with the youth team and the reserves at Port Vale so we believe we've got a real asset."
Hicks added: "(York manager) Martin Foyle has worked with Andy Porter before and they had a close relationship."
Porter left Vale Park last week after 17 years as player and coach at the club, where also played alongside Foyle.
