Akinde has played just seven times for Bristol City since his 140,000 signing
Wycombe Wanderers striker John Akinde scored twice on his debut in the 3-3 draw at Brentford, and then announced he will get better.
The 19-year-old striker, on loan from Bristol City, told BBC Three Counties Radio: "I thought I did well, but I think I could do better.
"Obviously scoring was a real plus for me. Hopefully I can build on that performance."
The former Ebbsfleet player has signed on a month's loan initially.
The powerful striker's second goal has already won him many admirers, but he remained modest.
"It was a good goal," he said. "I thought I'd try and attack the defender, beat him, which I did, then I just had to hit the target. "
However, he was disappointed not to add a third.
"I have scored a hat-trick when I was a lot younger," he said. "It would be good to get one at league level and hopefully I can do that."
Akinde joined Bristol City from Ebbsfleet in unusual circumstances, when fans were asked to vote via the internet whether to sell the promising youngster.
"One day I was training at Ebbsfleet, the next day I was talking to the manager at Bristol City," said Akinde. "It all happened so quickly and it has never happened like that before, with people voting whether I could go or not. It was good.
"I heard about a week ago that Wycombe were interested in taking me on loan and I was all right with that. I just want to get games and Wycombe is a very good club. It was a good move for me.
"[Manager] Peter Taylor knows a lot about the game and working under him will be really good for me.
"The aim is to come here and get as many goals as I can and play well for the whole 90 minutes and hopefully I can just build on that each week. "
