Wycombe maintained their challenge for automatic promotion with a win over play-off hopefuls Gillingham, who missed a penalty.
John Akinde was put through on goal by by Lee Sawyer and slid the ball smartly past on-rushing keeper Simon Royce to put the home side ahead.
But the Gills were given the chance to level when David McCracken conceded a penalty for a foul on Simeon Jackson.
Jackson wasted the spot-kick as he blasted it well over the top.
