Over 6,000 of the 7,452 people polled over the transfer approved the deal
Bristol City have signed Ebbsfleet United striker Jon Akinde for 140,000 on a three-year contract.
Almost 7,500 members of Fleet's owners myfootballclub.co.uk took part in a vote to decide whether they should sell him, with 82.3% voting in favour.
The 19-year-old has played just 34 games for the Blue Square Premier side, scoring 12 goals.
Akinde travelled with City's reserves to Southampton for Monday's match where he is expected to start on the bench.
Ebbsfleet boss Liam Daish rejected two bids from League One clubs, including Peterborough, during the summer but did not want to stop the teenager moving to the Championship.
Daish told BBC Radio Kent: "We won't stand in his way. It's a great move for him."
Robins boss Gary Johnson said: "It's a big step for John, but he is a big lad with bags of pace and we feel he can become a Championship player.
"He's only 19, and he's a type of player we hadn't got. I wanted to have five strikers with different attributes and he's another club for our golf bag."
