Ebbsfleet manager Liam Daish has urged Peterborough's Barry Fry to keep his comments to himself in their attempts to sign striker John Akinde.
The Fleet turned down a bid for the 19-year-old but Fry, Peterborough's director of football, told his local paper they will sign him eventually.
Daish said: "He's a Fleet player and Peterborough have handled it badly.
"He's got more chance of developing here and his next club being Championship or even above."
"I don't think the timing is right to do a deal," Daish told BBC Radio Kent.
