Wolves have appointed Steve Weaver to their development coaching staff to work with 18-21 year olds at Molineux.
A former coach at Wrexham, Manchester City and Blackburn, Weaver will try to help youngsters progress from the academy into the first-team ranks.
"Steve will be monitoring the middle group - coaching the young lads not in the first-team squad," said Wolves boss Mick McCarthy.
"He will also watch them if they go out on loan."
Weaver was a player at Wrexham before injury curtailed his career. He went on to run the Welsh club's School of Excellence and served as assistant manager when Brian Carey was in charge at the Racecourse Ground in 2007.
He sees his new role as something of a new departure for Wolves.
"It's to focus on those young players at the club who are not quite in the first team or have been sent out on loan," Weaver said.
"It's just a case of making sure they are generally looked after and being catered for whether it be here or at another club.
"With those sent out on loan, it's about making sure that I get to watch their games and assess their progress and make sure they are still remembered," he added.
