Wolves star Stephen Ward is ready to take on a number of different roles again this season if it means he earns a first team place.

The 22-year-old Irishman was originally bought as a striker but saw a lot of action on the left wing last season.

"I'm not sure if I'm thought of as a striker anymore, and to be honest I'm happy to play anywhere," Ward told the club's official website.

"The gaffer's so good with us that I think we'd all play anywhere if asked."

There is plenty of competition for places up front at Molineux with Sylvan Ebanks-Blake, Andy Keogh and Sam Vokes vying for places with Stephen Elliott and Freddy Eastwood.

"It's a fresh start for everyone when you look ahead to the new season," Ward noted.

"It's a chance for anyone to do well and get their foot in the door, and I know I'll be fighting for my place just like everyone else."
