Sole signs new contract at Woking

Woking

Woking have re-signed striker Giuseppe Sole on a new one-year contract which will him at the club until 2010.

The 21-year-old, who is a product of manager Graham Baker's Youth academy, broke into the first team in 2006, scoring 31 goals in 75 appearances.

Despite their relegation problems, former manager Phil Gilchrist loaned Sole to Ebbsfleet United where he scored five goals in eight games.

Woking have also signed 26-year-old midfielder Sam Sloma.

Sole told BBC Surrey: "I'm happy to sign for Woking. I've been there for five years and have a lot of faith in manager Graham Baker.

"When I was in the youth team he almost taught me what to expect in mens' football. Hopefully we can form a good team for next year to challenge for the Blue Square South title".

Woking club secretary Phil Ledger told BBC Surrey: "Why the manager [Gilchrist] ever let Guiseppe go I will never know.

"The manager is the manager, and I never poke my nose in. But Gez has signed this morning, as has Sam Sloma. So people are signing and that's good for this club."
