'New Dons' sponsorship coup
Wimbledon fans protest against the move to Milton Keynes
Wimbledon fans have turned their back on the club
Breakaway AFC Wimbledon have won a three-year six figure sponsorship deal as they seek to plot their way from the Combined Counties League to the Third Division.

The deal with a British-based international company, which is based in Merton, will be announced at the club's first friendly at Sutton United on Wednesday.

"The money will be used to develop the name of Wimbledon AFC," said club spokesman Lawrence Lowne.

"It will be used as a base to work from as part of our three-year plan."

Lowne contrasted AFC Wimbledon's marketing success with that of their Nationwide rivals' prospects of raising money from companies in the light of the Dons' desire to relocate to Milton Keynes.

"Who wants to support a club that says they don't want to play in that area?"

Last week Wimbledon confirmed that the club would stay at Selhurst Park next season after plans to move to a temporary home in Milton Keynes fell through.

AFC Wimbledon was set up this summer by Dons fans in protest at their club's move to Milton Keynes.

Wimbledon are planning to relocate to Milton Keyes
