The deal with a British-based international company, which is based in Merton, will be announced at the club's first friendly at Sutton United on Wednesday. "The money will be used to develop the name of Wimbledon AFC," said club spokesman Lawrence Lowne. "It will be used as a base to work from as part of our three-year plan." Lowne contrasted AFC Wimbledon's marketing success with that of their Nationwide rivals' prospects of raising money from companies in the light of the Dons' desire to relocate to Milton Keynes. "Who wants to support a club that says they don't want to play in that area?"
