Albion's Marc-Antoine Fortune 'wanted Celtic challenge'

West Bromwich Albion striker Marc-Antoine Fortune has insisted that he has no regrets about leaving the club to join Celtic in July 2009.

Fortune, 29, had spent four months on loan from French club Nancy and had the chance to join permanently, but decided on a move to Scotland instead.

He told BBC WM: "Celtic is a big club and it was a big challenge for me.

"But the Premier League is the biggest league in the world, and when Albion said they wanted me, I said 'yes'."

The French striker had featured for Celtic in their Europa League qualifiers earlier this season, but chose to move back to the Hawthorns on 27 August on a two-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

Fortune added that he feels he is a better player after spending a year in the SPL.

"When I came here [for my first spell] I tried to do well and I'm here to do the same thing," he said. "I've got more things to offer.

"I've played for Celtic in European games and I've got more experience."

Fortune started in the 1-0 defeat by Liverpool in Albion's last Premier League fixture and is likely to play against Tottenham on Saturday.
