West Brom centre-back Jonas Olsson feels he is getting to grips with English football after his August move from NEC Nijmegen.
The Swedish 25-year-old scored the winner in Albion's 1-0 victory at Middlesbrough in the club's last game.
"With new people coming in it takes time, but the more you play the more you learn," Olsson told BBC WM.
"We have good competition in the back four, it keeps you on your toes and keeps you going in training."
The Swede is particularly relishing the chance to play in front of the Baggies fans at the Hawthorns.
"I think the atmosphere is amazing, that's the big difference from Holland," he said.
"That's why I try so hard in training every day to play at the weekend. When you play in stadiums like we do it's all worth it.
"Here everybody sings and shows their emotion, it's part of the game I like."
